During his address at the opening ceremony of the 38th AFA International Technical Conference & Exhibition, Dr. Abdel Wahab Al Rowwad, Chairman of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), emphasized that the Arab world possesses strategic strengths that position it to play an influential role in shaping the future of the global fertilizer industry.
These strengths include abundant natural resources such as phosphate, potash, sulfur, and natural gas, alongside leading industrial enterprises, extensive human expertise, strategic geographical locations, and strong international trade partnerships.
He stressed that possessing resources alone does not guarantee leadership, noting that true wealth lies in the ability to transform these resources into added value, knowledge, and innovation.
Dr. Al Rowwad further highlighted that global crises have demonstrated that *the true strength of an industry is not measured only during periods of stability, but is revealed when markets face disruption and supply chains come under pressure.
He added that these challenges have reaffirmed the importance of a strong, resilient, and responsible fertilizer industry in safeguarding global food security, supported by genuine partnerships built on trust, mutual interests, and knowledge exchange.
